Forced Oscillation Technique measurement apparatus using fan-speaker hybrid

چکیده
The number of patients suffering from asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) increases due to deteriorating air quality smoking. A measurement technique known as the forced oscillation (FOT) helps physicians assess current state their patient’s lungs. Measurement devices based on either fans or speakers have been developed in past that can carry out this measurement, but performance and/or robustness often fall short. This article proposes a combination fan- speaker-based apparatus employs FOT help diagnose with these diseases. First, we discuss currently available specific problems. Next, fan-speaker hybrid is proposed. then characterized its improved feed forward compensation. Finally, measurements two test subjects proposed are shown discussed.

Nasal airflow resistance measurement: forced oscillation technique versus posterior rhinomanometry.
This study was designed to determine whether nasal airflow resistance (Rn) which is nonlinear during tidal breathing, can be assessed by the forced oscillation (FO) technique. Rn values obtained by the FO technique and extrapolated to 0 Hz (Rn,FO) were compared to those assessed by posterior rhinomanometry at maximal tidal inspiratory flow (Rn,m), at a 0.5 L x s(-1) flow (Rn,F), and at a 1 hPa ...
متن کاملMeasurement of bronchial responsiveness by forced oscillation technique in occupational epidemiology.
The performance of the forced oscillation technique (FOT) in the assessment of bronchial responsiveness on the methacholine challenge test was compared with that of forced expiratory volume in one second (FEV1) in 119 active workers with normal baseline pulmonary function. Changes in resistance (delta R0%), frequency dependence of resistance (delta P) and resonant frequency (delta F%) determine...

Measurement of total respiratory resistance using oscillation technique.
Clicks, honks, and whoops. D. Pickering (Rad-cliffe Infirmary, Oxford). Three cases are described which were originally diagnosed as having ventricular septal defect, pulmonary stenosis, and innocent prae-cordial honk. These have been reinvestigated using pixie accelerometer, phonocardiographic techniques (Bew et al., 1971). All three have been shown to have clicks which move with posture, Vals...
متن کاملUse of the forced-oscillation technique to estimate spirometry values
PURPOSE Spirometry is sometimes difficult to perform in elderly patients and in those with severe respiratory distress. The forced-oscillation technique (FOT) is a simple and noninvasive method of measuring respiratory impedance. The aim of this study was to determine if FOT data reflect spirometric indices. PATIENTS AND METHODS Patients underwent both FOT and spirometry procedures prior to i...
